Programs and Courses
CHOKE schools offer different programs to different students. From group classes and seminars to private lessons, our courses and programs are built to meet your needs and let you fully benefit from the practice of Jiu-Jitsu.
Group Classes - They can be either 1-hour long or 2-hour long and are divided in three parts. We start with warm-up and stretching routines. Then we move on to techniques, where one or two new moves will be shown and practiced. The final part is the sparring session between the students. The classes are divided into two groups:
BLUE BELT PROGRAM - It lasts between nine and twelve months and is indicated for students who are starting to practice Jiu-Jitsu. You will learn all the basics in order to build a solid foundation to your technique. After completing this program you will move on to the Advanced Program where you will have the chance to train with more experienced students.

ADVANCED PROGRAM - Here intermediate and advanced students from different belts train together. White belts with four stripes are allowed to join the classes. The techniques shown require a better understanding of Jiu-Jitsu and they cover various aspects of the fight game.

Private Students/Small Groups - This is the best option for students who are looking for a more personalized approach, either as a complement to their regular training or because they are too busy to attend the group classes. Each lesson follows a program based on your individual needs. We also offer the whole Self-Defense and BJJ 1 Programs for private students.
Self-Defense - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was developed for self-defense purposes. Unlike most BJJ schools nowadays, self-defense is an important part of our program. The techniques are simple and were created to be effective against bigger and stronger aggressors in common street situations. It's perfectly suited for women, for example.

Special Programs - CHOKE has given classes to members of the Brazilian FBI, Copenhagen Police Academy and Monaco Special Forces. Because BJJ enables the practitioner to easily control a bigger and stronger agressor without having to hurt him, it is a must for law enforcement agents and people involved in the private security business. In the United States BJJ has been selected by institutions like the FBI, SWAT, Rangers, Navy SEALS and LAPD as their method of hand-to-hand combat. Contact us to find out more about our Security Programs.
Seminars - If you are interested in learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but live far away, you can contact us to book a seminar at your local gym. We have given seminars and workshops in more than ten countries and to students from different martial art backgrounds like JKD, karate, submission fighting, judo and wing tsun. [Read More]

Our Philosophy On Belts and Grades
Because we take Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu very seriously we cannot pre-determine how long it will take for a student to be awarded a belt. Everyone progresses diferently - some are naturally skilled and learn fast, while others take a little longer to improve. So in order to offer the highest standards, we established - long - minimum periods of training for each belt. In our school it takes a minimum of one year of non-stop training for an adult student to be awarded his/her first grade, the blue belt.

After that the student has to spend a minimum of three years in each belt. Therefore it takes at least 10 years of training to become one of our black belts. Yes, it is a long time, but if your goal is mastering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu then we believe this is the best way to do it. Forget about belts and focus on becoming the best fighter you can be. You will quickly realize that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is infinite and for life. Like they say in Brazil, "the belt is for holding the pants".
